What Do These Angles Mean?

Approach Angle — The steepest incline you can drive up without the front bumper hitting. Measured from the tire contact patch to the lowest front obstacle.
Departure Angle — The steepest incline you can drive down without the rear bumper dragging. Measured from the rear tire to the lowest rear obstacle.
Breakover Angle — The steepest ridge your vehicle can crest without high-centering. Depends on wheelbase and ground clearance.

Rating Guide

Approach< 35°35–44°≥ 45°
Departure< 25°25–34°≥ 35°
Breakover< 18°18–23°≥ 24°

Overhang is measured from wheel center to the lowest/outermost point of the bumper. Ground clearance is the lowest underbody point (axle, skid plate, or transfer case). Ratings are guidelines — actual capability also depends on suspension travel, flex, and driver skill.
